My Week in Nashville

This past week I traveled to Nashville to spend the week at Vanderbilt Medical Center with Meredith while she received her Atgam treatments, for Aplastic Anemia. For those of you who don't have their "honorary Dr." tile like Meredith and I do :o) Atgam is Anti-Thymocyte Immune Globulin, which is derived from either a horse or rabbit; sweet Mere got the Horse serum. Her response was "ooooh goody I have always loved Horses" This treatment is supposed to "kill all the bad guy cells" and hopefully "make good guy cells". That girl sure is a trooper, and I am not sure if she still likes horses, I need to ask her that. It was a rough week, but she made it through and we just have to pray so hard that it works, and that we will find a match for a bone marrow donor.

While it was so hard to watch her hurt and to be angry and to be sick, it was the biggest blessing to be able to be there with her. For those of you who know me well, I do NOT do doctors, or hospitals or blood or anything of that sort, so I knew that the week would be scary for me in that aspect. I prayed so hard about it before my travels and each day, that it honestly never even bothered me, the Lord got me through what I needed to do in order to make sure that Mere was ok. I can say thank you God for me not being there the one time she did throw up...I probably wouldn't have handeld that with much grace. ;)

Meredith, you amaze me in every way. You are a true woman of the Lord, and I look up to you for your courgae and strength and faith. You are always on the front of my mind and I am praying for you always. I love you and I am so blessed to have you in my life. I am working on a letter/journal of all our times at the hosptail so that one day when we are 85 and "loving the wheelchairs" we can laugh about this past week.

Every time I hear this song Blessings by Laura Story I think about you.
God is working in ways we don't even know!
Typical Meredith making silly faces. I think it might have been he drugs talking ;)
