Seek Ye First The Kingdom of God....

On Saturday, March 26 a true and faithful servant of the Lord went home to Heaven. Bob devoted his life to the ministry, he was the Reverend at my grandparents church for years. Bob was not only the Reverend of their Church, but he and his wife Joy are my Gramma and Papa's best friends. The Lyles have always been a staple in our family. Bob, had a way about him, there was a softness in his voice and a passion for all that he did. I remember countless Christmas Eve services as a little girl, just closing my eyes and listening to his voice. It was always very clear why the Lord chose Bob to be in the ministry.  He was an amazing man in all aspects of his life, and will be missed by so many people.

There was just always something about that precious man that made him extra special to me. I was beyond thrilled when he agreed to "come out of retirement" as he put it, to marry me and Monroe. Monroe and I are honored and blessed that he married us, and it is something that we will always hold very close to our hearts. At the time when Monroe and I got married Bob's health wasn't the best, but he had a special sparkle in his eye that day, his voice was loud and clear just as I always heard it. He did an amazing job.

I will never forget when Monroe and I were engaged and Monroe came up to Alexandria to visit and to meet with Bob to go over the ceremony. I have always loved the song "Seek Ye First The Kingdom of God" and I wanted it it my wedding. I shared this with Bob, and the next thing I know we are sitting on the couch singing through the whole song, Bob, Tripp Monroe and I. Today I love the song even more.

The last time that we got to spend with Bob was this past 4th of July. Monroe and I were home visiting and we had a 4th of July celebration. The Lyles were there and Bob was great, he was funny and telling stories, and Monroe kept Bob's champagne glass full. :) Bob never did turn down a glass of good champagne.

I am so sad that he is no longer here with us, but I have such peace knowing that he is Home with the Lord, and fully recovered and happy. Thank you Bob for all you have given so many people, you have touched the lives of more than you will ever know. You are one truly inspirational and Godly man, I love you, and one day we will share a glass of good champagne and sing together in Heaven.
